Cockatoo Club News Letter No 2 October 2007

Thankyou

We have now come through a very cold winter and with daylight savings approaching and summer just around the corner it is time to have fun on the Wonee with us. At the Thai Peninsular Restaurant “it’s all about you”. We aim to ensure that your experience with us is one that you can share with your friends and we would appreciate any feedback you wish to give us.

The Team

Most of our team live and study in the City.  They are always willing to please the customer and are thirsty to learn English and more of our customs and the Australian way of life.

Mimie , The Manager is often found making birds and turtles for the kids.  She and her origami skills are proving very popular.

Spike , the home delivery driver, also backs up as the local magician on Friday and Saturday nights is currently in Bali for the 5th Anniversary of his son’s death in the Bali Bombing. In the meantime Rick has joined the team and is well know to many of the locals and will be operating as the delivery person not only to your home by car, but he is happy to deliver by boat if you are on the Wonee.

Balloon , he’s the big man, is the Head Chef supported by an experienced team of chefs.  He has a passion for extraordinary culinary dishes including pastries, a course which he is studying.

I, Harry, the owner   am enjoying meeting the customers and having discussions on all aspects of business. With over 20 years in the franchising sector I am happy to discuss all forms of business growth.

Please say hello to all the team when you are next in as you will find they will go out of their way to ensure you are happy with your visit to us.

·         Loi Katong  Sunday 25th November 07 Thai spiritual cleansing ceremony.  “Loi” means to float. “Katong” means a Lotus shaped vessel made of banana leaves.  The Katong usually holds a candle. In Thailand the festival takes place in late November on a full moon when the river is high.

Thai people believe the festival offers thanks to the Goddess of water.  The candles are lit and a wish is made as the Katong is launched in canals, rivers or small ponds.

It is believed that the Katong can carry away bad luck.  It is the time to start the “coming new year” with hope and good health.

During this special evening you will be invited to make a wish on the Wonee.
